Fundraisers in Ellesmere came out in force again after hundreds were raised for Oswestry's Hope House at the weekend.

Around £200 was raised at the spring coffee morning, which was held at Ellesmere Town Hall on Saturday, which beat last year's efforts.

Lynsey Kilvert, who is fundraising team leader, was delighted to see so many people there and supporting the vital work carried out by Hope House.

"They raised a couple of hundred pounds," she said.

"We're really happy and it's a little bit more than the spring coffee morning last year.

"We have got a nice little community and it's great to see that so many people want to help us and then continue to support us.

"We had lots of prizes for the raffle – alcohol, smellies and all sorts of stuff you normally get.

"We had Eric Williams, who has a grandson at Hope House, and he made and sold lots of wooden items, such as bowls or bid boxes, and donated the money to us.

"And Lillian Ashley donated the money from her knitting too. Thanks to everyone who came."
