The retiring 2019 captains of Hawkstone Park Golf Club have handed over their latest fundraising cheque to the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, bringing their total donation to £11,376 in two years.

David Driver de Valle and Francine Nutt visited Lingen Davies charity to deliver their 2019 donation of £6,146 to the Sisters and Nurses from the charity’s Day Treatment Centre.

David, who has been visiting the centre for treatment over the last few years, describes himself as a ‘regular customer’ and said it was very appropriate to include the wonderful team of Sisters and Nurses from the centre in the presentation of the cheque.

He said: “The level of calm, professionalism and reassurance that you feel when you arrive at the Day Treatment Centre is amazing and uplifting. My personal experience has to endorse Lingen Davies as one of the leading Cancer Treatment Centres in the UK.

“Following the £5,230 that was raised in 2018, everyone at Hawkstone Park Golf Club is absolutely thrilled to have raised another £6,146 for Lingen Davies.

“The money was raised by a series of fundraising activities held at the golf club which were generously supported throughout the year by our members and also sponsors on the Captain’s Charity Day, and visitors who played in our Open Competitions.”

Receiving the cheque, Naomi Atkin, chief executive officers of Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, admitted her delight at the money.

She added: “This is an amazing contribution over two years from Hawkstone Park Golf Club and we are very grateful to receive this support.

“We are very fortunate that people in our community continue to find effective and innovative ways to raise funds and help us make sure that these excellent services are available to the people of Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales.

“Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this great total.”
