THE managing director of a high street estate agent, who have a base in Whitchurch, will run this year's London Marathon for charity.

Mike Arthan, who runs Barbers, will take part in this year's race, alongside his son Matthew.

The pair regularly compete in 10k events across Shropshire and will run the London Marathon the raise money for the Lingen Davies Cancer fund.

A spokesman for the firm said the father and son team were representing the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, after friends and family received support from the charity.

"Mike and Matthew Arthan from Barbers Estate Agents are running the London Marathon 2020 to raise money for Lingen Davies Cancer Fund," the spokesman said.

"The father and son team were presented with vests by Lizzy Coleman, the charity's events officer in preparation for the event.

"Both regularly compete in 10k races across Shropshire, but extensive training is now well underway for Matthew, who is undertaking the longest run of his life!

"Mike first ran the London Marathon in 1996 and is raring to go again 24 years later.

"They have chosen to run for Lingen Davies, as they have family and friends who have received cancer treatment from them.

"Mike and Matthew have set a fundraising target of £1,500 to show their thanks and support to the charity.
