A MAN has been taken to hospital after a crash on the A5 between Oswestry and Chirk.

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) was called to a two-vehicle collision, involving a car and a lorry, at 3.20pm.

Also in attendance was Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Mercia Police. No persons were trapped and crews made the vehicles safe.

A spokesman for WMAS said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision (RTC) at the junction between the A5 and the B5009.

"We currently have one ambulance at the scene."

Alex Gale, of West Mercia Police, confirmed the road had been partially blocked and a patient had been taken to hospital.

He said: "The road was blocked because of the damage and debris.

"The injured parties were treated and one patient, the driver of the car, was taken to hospital.

"The car and lorry were recovered and the road was cleared by 4.21pm."
