WEST Mercia Police has been making sure drivers are on their best behaviour by conducting traffic checks on the A41.

On Thursday, February 6, members of the Shropshire Operational Patrol Unit set up shop at the A41, alongside various other agencies, including the Environment Agency, Highways England and Customs.

The planned operation ran until 3pm and was in line with the national carriage of dangerous goods.

Services taking part in the operation were confirming vehicles had the correct carriage of goods and checked nothing was being illegally transported.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police confirmed that a number of vehicles had been stopped and drivers educated or reported for a number of offences, including vehicles which were over two tonnes overweight and insecure loads.
