A MILKMAN was stabbed by a teenager while doing his rounds in Tarporley on Friday morning (January 31) – but despite a wound to his stomach, carried on his shift after receiving medical treatment.

Briscoe's Dairy put up a post on Facebook detailing the shocking incident, which police are now investigating.

It read: "At approximately 4.45am our milkman Rob was approached by two youths about 15/16 years old, both males on Eaton Lane, Tarporley just up from the junction with Cobblers Cross.

"They asked him for a lift and tried to steal goods off the back of his float, but when he refused one of the youths has stabbed Rob in the stomach then made off on foot.

"They were asking for a lift to Tiverton, so obviously local.

"This is someone’s son, someone’s brother and someone will know who has done this and they need to be caught and punished, as no one should ever have to go through what Rob did this morning.

"Rob has a nasty wound to the stomach but he is OK and even wanted to finish off his round.

"Let’s get this scum caught and off the streets."

The Facebook post has gone viral, with thousands of people sharing it in the hours following its publication.

A spokesperson for Cheshire police said: "Just before 5am on Friday, January 31 officers were called following reports of a man being stabbed on Eaton Lane, Tarporley.

"It is believed that two males attempted to steal some milk before the incident.

"The man is believed to have minor injuries.

"Anyone with information is urged to call 101, quoting IML 625126."

It is understood that, in spite of the stabbing, the milkman was able to carry on with his milk rounds once he had been treated by paramedics.
