WEM Town Council will meet this week to look at ways of working with young people in the town following the introduction of Shropshire Council's new youth provision.

A consultation was launched in September, exploring what Shropshire Council can do differently in regards to delivering youth support throughout the county.

But at the time councillors in Wem expressed a number of concerns in relation to the plans.

The plans were passed this month and now Wem Youth Club have requested to speak with the council on the best way to move forward.

At Thursday's meeting, in the Roden Suite of Edinburgh House, In New Road, at 7.15pm, councillors will discuss a letter received from Wem Youth Club's co-chairman Sue Challis regarding the issue.

Other items up for discussion at the meeting include planning applications, with the recently-released place plan and a letter from Shropshire Council regarding the land off Roden Grove development.

Councillors will then discuss concerns raised over availability of appointments at the Wem Medical Practice and access to the pharmacy.

The town council will also review a request from the Wem Area Climate Change Forum for the payment of expenses for the coordination of the forum.

Finally, councillors will consider a letter from Sarah Ashton of Pick'n'Mix Events, who wishes to run child-orientated events in the town.
