Whitchurch Alport once again came together to mark the memory of one of the club’s biggest fans at their league clash on Saturday.

Family members of Aaron Millington, who died in a car crash two weeks ago, joined the players in the centre circle to lay flowers and release balloons in memory of the 22-year-old.

Luke Goddard, former manager and now interim chairman at Yockings Park, gave an emotional address to almost 500 fans who had set a record attendance to pay their respects to Aaron.

While the result did not go the Reds’ way, Mr Goddard told Whitchurch they have a football club to be proud of in the way they came together to celebrate Aaron’s memory.

Meanwhile, the club is also mourning the loss of Phil Denson, who died from cancer last week.

Denson had a long association with Whitchurch Alport FC as both a player and also a manager, starting back in the Mid Cheshire League days and moved with the club when it entered the Mercian League. He was a much-loved person.
