WHITCHURCH'S newest town councillor says he will bring youth and energy to to the role.
At the town council's January meeting, the current councillors listened to speeches from prospective members Will McDonnell and and Christian Gregory-Peake.
Mr McDonnell made his case first, saying that his professions as an economist and in management would help the council achieve their long term goals.
Meanwhile in a brief speech, Mr Gregory-Peake said that his youth, energy and his ability to listen to the needs of the council and town would help his role.
He also expressed an interest in the cultural side of the town, saying events like the Blackberry Fair and the food festival were the "best way of bringing people together".
Councillors made their vote later into the meeting, with Mr Gregory-Peake beating Mr McDonnell six votes to four.
