BUDDING footballers from Whitchurch Alport Juniors have been packing their bags to raise money for the club.

Members of the club recently took part in a fundraising bag pack at Sainsbury's in London Road, organised by club president Kim Marchbank-Smith and Maureen O'Shea from the supermarket.

The club raised £988 through this activity, which will go towards funding new equipment and the maintenance of club facilities.

Club chairman, Rob Dutton, thanked staff at Sainsbury's and members of the public for helping the club to raise so much money.

"On behalf of everyone at Whitchurch Alport Juniors I'd like to thank Maureen and the staff at Sainsbury's for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to bag pack and raise much needed funds towards new equipment and the maintenance of club facilities," said Rob.

"I'd also like to thank all of our players and coaches who helped bag pack and the members of the public, who were very kind with their donations.

"As a club it isn't always easy to raise funds, so we are extremely grateful for everyone's generosity."
