RESIDENTS of Wrenbury made the most of New Year's Day, by taking part in a fundraising dog walk and duck race.

The charity event was in aid of Friends of Wrenbury School and saw dozens turn out to take part.

It was an afternoon of fun for all involved, with keen dog walkers going for a brisk walk from the Dusty Millar pub, around the village church and back again.

It was then onto the duck race, with both children's and adult races taking place.

Proceeds raised from the purchasing of ducks for the race went to the Friends of Wrenbury and in all both races help raise £465.

This total is on top of the Christmas fair the charity recently held, which raised more than £1,000.

Both events were very well attended, with a spokesperson for the Friends of Wrenbury School praising all those who came out.

"Happy New Year! What a fantastic village event the duck race and dog walk was today," said the spokesman.

"Thanks to all that attended and volunteered. We raised an amazing £465 for the school."
