MEMBERS of Whitchurch Foodbank have expressed their thanks for the support they have received over Christmas.

The Foodbank operates out of Bargates Hall next to St Alkmund's Church and in the past year has been supported by various groups and organisations including supermarkets, schools and other businesses in Whitchurch, Wem and the surrounding areas.

In addition to providing food to more than 40 clients, the Foodbank also provided 61 families with food to see them through Christmas.

Whitchurch Foodbank chairman, Alan Scutt, has praised the work of all those who donated items, and the volunteers who work for the foodbank.

"The generous response from the people of Whitchurch, Wem and surrounding areas has been incredible," said Alan. "Particular thanks go to the schools for their help and support.

"They, together with our fantastic band of volunteers, who have worked tirelessly over the past few weeks, are truly amazing."

The chairman also thanked the Jane Higginson Trust and the Rotary Clubs of Whitchurch and Wem for help and also Aviagen Turkeys of Tattenhall for their donation of turkeys.
