A MAN facing a drug driving charge had to dash to hospital from Mold Law Courts as his finger was said to be “hanging off”.

Gerrard Michael Roberts, 40, of Jubilee Court in Buckley was due to appear at North East Wales Magistrates’ Court on Christmas Eve.

He had been charged with driving a Volvo when the level of a controlled drug, namely Benzoylecgonine a metabolite of cocaine, was above the legal limit in Wrexham on July 31 this year.

Prosecutor Rhian Jackson said the defendant did attend court and staff had seen his injury on the premises. But he then needed to go to an accident emergency unit and District Judge Gwyn Jones was later told the defendant had “lost his finger”.

He adjourned the hearing until next Tuesday for a plea.
