WEM'S Isaac Vickery has rounded off this year's campaign with another win.

Sunday, December 22 saw the last round of the West Midlands Cyclo Cross League take place at Aldersley Stadium, in Wolverhampton, hosted by Wolverhampton Wheelers.

The toughest course of the season saw 25 under-10 riders tackle the most unpleasant conditions seen during the 2019 cyclo cross season.

The challenging course looped around a saturated sports field, winding in and out of tree crops, with exposed roots and deep sloppy puddles of mud awaiting the riders.

Isaac, riding for Mid Shropshire Wheelers, road a near perfect race, riding all of the obstacles faultlessly, whilst many of his opponents needed to dismount and run with their bikes.

Superior bike skills allowed Isaac to build a large lead so he could relax over the line, punching the air as he crossed to win the race, with Arley Berry of Redditch Road and Path CC in second and Jude White also of Mid Shropshire Wheelers in third.

The victory meant that Isaac wins the overall U10 West Midlands Cyclo Cross series with his best 10 results counting, including, eight wins and two seconds, amassing 998 out of a possible 1000 points.

Isaac is looking forward to the West Midlands Cyclo Cross League presentation night in January where he will collect his trophy before a well deserved rest before the mountain bike cross country racing starts in March.

January 11 and 12 will see Mid Shropshire Wheelers host the HSBC UK National Cycle Cross Championships at Shrewsbury Sports Village.

Entry is free for spectators where they will be able to watch some of the biggest names in British cycle racing.
