PUPILS from Thomas Adams School in Wem have been giving to charity, by using funds from a recent event to buy items for the Foodbank.

The school recently held a Christmas fair, which raised £450 for the Whitchurch Foodbank.

Pupils then travelled to Whitchurch and used the money to purchase food, having first consulted with the Foodbank on the items in short supply.

With the support of their headteacher Mark Cooper, the pupils transported the food to Bargates Hall in Church Street where the Foodbank is located.

They were welcomed by the Foodbank’s team of volunteers and were given a short guided tour to observe how their donations would be processed.

Alan Scutt, chairman of the Foodbank, praised the pupils for their efforts and thanked them for their generosity towards people in the community who are in need.
