A CHARTIY event held in the grounds of Combermere Abbey last month has raised a large sum of money.

A ladies Christmas shopping evening, held on Thursday, November 21, raised the significant sum of £1000 for local charity The Hospice of the Good Shepherd.

The event, organised by Tom and Lynne Morrison from Berryfresh Bakery and Jayne Rozario of Rozario Jewellry Designs was set up in the walled garden pavilion and attracted more than 170 guests.

Stall holders from all over the area offered a wide range of beautiful Christmas wares from designer cashmere knitwear and clothing, jewellery, decorative items, foods and drinks and local craft products which generated plenty of excitement in the room.

Stallholders included Lorna’s House and Duffy from Whitchurch, Berryfresh Bakery, Wild Goose and Natural Luxuries from Malpas, Rozario Jewellry Designs, Perch Upholstery and PKF Wellbeing and Suzie King among many others.

The fundraising team for the Hospice was spearheaded by Sarah Collard and volunteers from Malpas had a tombola and raffle table which was very popular and successful.

Guests were treated to canapes and prosecco on arrival and Christmas songs and carols by the well-known Cheshire Fire Choir who were featured in the TV series The Choir and have sung both nationally and overseas.
