IT WAS the end of the Strictly road for AJ and Saffron on Sunday after they were knocked out of the popular TV dance competition.

The dance pair's dreams of reaching the final of Strictly Come Dancing were slashed after an unsuccessful week-10 dance saw them in the bottom spot, along with fellow dance couple, Alex and Neil.

The duo ended up with one of their lowest scores to date as they were given 26 points for their Samba, which they had danced to Katrina and The Waves' Walking On Sunshine – subsequently landing them in the dance-off with Karim and Amy.

The pair gave it their best shot as they re-danced the previous night's samba – but it was to no avail, as the judges voted unanimously for Karim and Amy to go through to week 11.

YouTube star Saffron, who said that her favourite dance had been the Waltz, was notably upset with the result but said that she had had the best time on the show, thanks to AJ.

"It's been amazing," said Saffron. "I would like to thank AJ so much."

"That Waltz, I'll never ever forget that dance," said AJ. "So thank you. You're the best dance partner."

After the show, 19-year-old Saffron took to social media to thank the Whitchurch dancer and their supporters again.

"So many emotions," she added. "I am so sad because my Strictly journey is over but smiling because I am so proud of myself for how far I've come.

"I couldn't have wished for anyone else to have been partnered with.

"Thank you for your patience and all your laughs."
