The annual presentation for a popular Oswestry-based bowls competition took place last week.

Oswestry Bowling in the Park held the event at The Keys in St Martins on Friday, November 8.

Members gathered for a meal and a chance to reflect on the season gone by.

The winning pair of this year’s competition was Christine Corfield and Frank Hulse, who were presented with the shield by Darrell Brindley, of sponsors Coversure Insurance Services in Oswestry.

League organiser Kath Lewis said it was another great season.

She said: “We play every Friday morning from 10am until 11.30am as part of the Oswestry U3As bowls group.

“We’re all members of the U3A group in the town and it still proves to be a popular group.

“We’ve had quite a wet season this year, but with that being said, we’ve had an awful lot of fun with it and everything has worked out great.

“The U3A group is great and really encourages people to take up activities they enjoy.”

Darrell, who came along to present the winning pair with the shield, said: “We’ve supported this league for many years now and it’s something we are very proud to do.

“We’re really happy to be able to do our bit to support the local bowls community.”
