PEOPLE across Oswestry and surrounding areas were getting ready to support BBC's Children in Need on Friday.

Many dressed up in yellow and donned spotty clothes and fluffy ears, to honour the charity's well-known mascot – Pudsey Bear.

Fundraising for the annual Children in Need appeal has been taking place up and down the country over the past few weeks, with people taking part in anything from cake sales, to massive mountain treks – all in aid of the charity.

The charity's vision is that every child in the UK has a childhood which is safe, happy, secure and allows them the chance to reach their potential.

Last weekend, crowds gathered across the region to welcome The One Show's Matt Baker and a team of six young people take part in the Rickshaw Challenge – a regular fixture of the annual fundraising event – as they travelled through the region on their epic 400-mile cycle from Holyhead to London.

The live finale of this year's fundraising efforts will air on BBC One on Friday at 7.30pm – with coverage of fundraising challenges and updates through the night, carrying on until the early hours of Saturday morning.

There will also be a Dragon's Den special on between 10pm and 10.35pm on BBC Two.
