TILSTON has received a Best Kept Village award at the annual Best Kept Village Awards.

The village won the award in the population of 600 to 1000 category at the awards evening on November 4.

This is the third year that Tilston has won the award and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the residents and the parish council to keep the village looking at its best.

Village Stores in Church Road also won a Little Gem award as nominated by the Best Kept Village Awards judges.

Chairman of Tilston Parish Council, Sue Willett said the award win was thanks to the hard work of the community.

"It is a wonderful achievement to have won the Best Kept Village Award again this year and it wouldn’t be possible without the help and hard work of the community," said Sue.

Meanwhile Tilston Parish Council have also held their community awards at their most recent meeting.

The awards were introduced in 2018 and recipients are voted for by the community and each year different organisations in the village are also asked to nominate winners.

For this year, Best Community Organisation was awarded to Tilston Landscape and Wildlife Group, and the certificate was presented to Tom Stephenson.

The Best Individual as nominated by St Mary’s Church was awarded to Penny Hearn for her hard work and dedication as church Warden at St Mary’s in Tilston.

Meanwhile Best Individual Special Mentions went to Gail Graham for all she does for Tilston Playing Field Association including the 10K and Play Scheme and Sue Willett for all she does around the village.

Overall Best Individual as nominated by the Tilston Parochial Primary School and by the Community went to Reverend Jane Stephenson who stood down as Rector to St Mary’s earlier this year.

The awards were presented by Cheshire West and Chester Councillor Paul Roberts.
