The Conservative candidate for North Shropshire has been speaking to businesses in Whitchurch ahead of the upcoming General Election.

As part of his election campaign, Owen Paterson, who has represented North Shropshire since 1997, says he and the Conservatives are offering people across North Shropshire and Whitchurch a ‘clear plan of action’ on Brexit.

Mr Paterson has been canvassing business owners in the town, to hear their views on various issues, including Brexit.

He says the feedback he has received from businesses has been positive, despite his election campaign just starting.

“I’ve literally only finalised the election campaign today (Monday), so we’ve been speaking to business owners,” said Mr Paterson.

“We’ve had very strong support, people are very optimistic.

“The general mood is the same – get Brexit done.”

Jenni Mchale, from Gallery Flowers, was one of the business owners visited by Mr Paterson and said it was good to see candidates visit the town.

“It’s nice see him visit local businesses,” said Jenni. “Whereas the majority of politicians hide.”
