A WHITCHURCH-based acting troupe is rehearsing for a performance of one of theatres most-loved musicals.

Whitchurch Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (WOADS) will perform The Sound of Music at Whitchurch Civic Centre next week for five days.

The performance will also mark WOADS’ 95th year, and it is interesting to note that the popular Rodgers and Hammerstein musical has been performed by the society twice before; once in 1976 and again in 1998.

With additional songs not used in the 1965 film and a slightly different placement of well-known songs, the stage production remains true to Rodgers and Hammerstein’s vision.

WOADS’ production runs from Tuesday, November 19 at the Civic Centre until Saturday, November 23.
