MEMBERS of Wem Cricket Club have swapped their bats for clubs by taking part in a golf tournament at Hawkstone Park.
The annual George Sage Memorial golf day saw 13 teams compete for the prestigious trophy, while also playing against professional golfer Ashley Chesters.
The event was organised by club chairman Shaun Astley who was delighted with the turnout and the chance to play against one of Europe's best.
“The trophy was won by club captain Sam Peate’s team – no surprise after the season he had," said Shaun.
"In addition we held a beat the pro competition which saw all players compete against European tour professional Ashley Chesters in a nearest the pin competition.
"On behalf of the club I would like to thank Ashley for giving up his time to support us, all the club volunteers who ensured the day ran smoothly, sponsors for once again supporting the event and all the players who competed.
"We look forward to seeing you all again next year."
