ELLESMERE has commemorated Remembrance day by decorating locations in the town with poppies.

Last year, Flowers of Peace and Remembrance Garden were created as a community arts project by the people of Ellesmere to commemorate the end of the First World War.

More than 200 flowers were made by many individuals, children for Brownies and Scouts, community groups, businesses and pupils from Lakelands Academy, Welshampton School and Ellesmere Primary School.

Because of the effort and creativity that went into the making of the blooms, they have been kept and Ellesmere resident Sally Poynton has put them on display on the town hall and Ellesmere Library.

Sally added that she hoped the poppy display "will be seen by a new audience who may not have seen the display last year."
