STUDENTS in Kenya are benefitting from new desks after a donation from a club in Ellesmere.
The desks, made by students learning woodwork at Ukunda Polytechnic in Kenya, have been sponsored by St Mary’s Club in Ellesmere.
Children at the club took part in a charity skipathon at St Mary’s Church recently, raising £150 to pay for the materials for the desks.
After the event, the club then passed on its donation to the Kenyan Schools Project, an Oswestry-based charity run by husband and wife team Bill and Lynn Morris, who help children in Kenyan schools and orphanages by providing equipment and even building classrooms.
Bill said: “Myself and Lynn would like to convey thanks to St Mary’s Club from the students of Mrima Training Centre for raising enough funds for six desks for the students through their skipathon.”
