KING LEAR

(Talbot Theatre, Whitchurch, Thursday, October 24 at 7.30pm)

KING Lear comes to the Talbot Theatre – armed with only a drum, a guitar, a knife and a chair,

Adapted and performed by Paul Morel, the show has all of Oddbodies Theatre Company’s trademark physical ingenuity and visual flair.

It is an inventive, irreverent and highly accessible take on one of Shakespeare’s most brilliant plays.

An Arts Alive event, the tragic trajectory of Lear’s demise is presented from the point of view of his long suffering and ever-loyal fool.

The bastard Edmund, haughty Goneril, poor deluded Gloucester, oily Oswald, sweet Cordelia and mad Tom are brought to glorious life.

Blindness, betrayal, delusion, deceit, love, loyalty, lust and greed are all here in this fast-paced, funny, poignant and ultimately heartbreaking production.

Tickets at £10 adults and £5 young people are available from the leisure centre on 01948 660660, 07506 724572 or at www.artsalive.co.uk. Suitable for ages 14+.
