A COFFEE morning to raise funds for charity has taken place in Wem.
On Saturday, members of Wem Methodist Church welcomed in guests for a charity coffee morning to raise funds for Alzheimers Society, the church's chosen charity for the year.
The event was organised by members Ann Johnson and Anne Jones who wanted to create a 'community event' that was not just about the church.
"It's not just about the church, it's a community event," said Ann. "And it ties in nicely with our dementia-friendly ethos.
"Once a month we have a dementia-friendly service called Saturday Special.
"All monies raised today will go to Alzheimers Society Shrewsbury so it will go on services locally."
At the event, guests could tuck into sausage and bacon baps, hot drinks and plenty of cake.
There was also a raffle with many prizes up for grabs including; food hampers from local supermarkets and cafe vouchers.
The dementia-friendly Saturday Special service takes place on the third Saturday of each month at 10.30am and entry is free.
"Everyone is welcome to come along, not just those with dementia," Ann added.
"People come from further afield to take part in the service. It's a very informal, fun half an hour.
"A big thank you to everyone who has baked, donated prizes, helped organise today's event and those who have come along."
