LINE dancers have taken to the floor in Fauls Green to raise funds for a breast cancer charity.

Enthusiastic dancers from across the county, donned their dance shoes and headed to the village’s church hall to raise £1,000 for the breast care unit at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford (PRH).

The event, which saw people take part in four hours of line dancing, was organised by keen line dancer, Danni Forrester, who has family members and friends who have been affected by breast cancer.

"I've had quite a few friends who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and my great great aunt who's here dancing today," said Danni.

"The work they do is fantastic. I've had a mammogram myself now."

Marion, Danni's great great aunt was overwhelmed at the support given to her from the PRH and thanked those for their support at the event.

"[PRH] have been absolutely fantastic," she said. “They go above and beyond, I cannot fault them.

"All the money raised will be going direct to the breast care unit, so it's staying in our county."

Sue Lewis, one of Marion's specialist nurses from hospital, was also delighted with Danni's fundraising efforts and spoke of how the money would be put to good use.

"The money will help make the journey better for patients and help provide important services," she said.

"It will go on training, a scanning machine, and other vital equipment."

"Thank you to everyone who has taken part and those who have helped organise it," added Danni.

During the event, two cheques were presented to Sue and consultant radiographer Sue Williams for £1,000 each – money which was raised at the line dancing event and a previous afternoon tea fundraiser.
