CHILDREN from Thomas Adams School in Wem have launched an initiative to donate uniforms to schoolchildren in Kenya.

Thomas Adams has a new uniform and Year 10 students from the school wanted to make sure the old olds would not end up in landfill.

After approaching Michael Howell from Wem Rotary Club, agreed that it would be a shame to see the uniforms go to waste.

Michael said: “This year the school decided on new uniforms and in effect there are around 1200 uniforms that are now obsolete.

“The children said this is a monstrosity, what can we do, we must do something useful and practical.

“We’re at the point now where the girls have donated lots of uniforms to Wellington St Patricks.

“The good news is there’s at least 200 kids in Kenya who will benefit.”
