A WHITCHURCH-based choir will bring a classic performance to Malpas next month.
Border Singers, will bring Handel’s Saul to St Oswald's Church on Saturday, October 16.
Saul is an Old Testament tale of envy and revenge and contains some of Handel’s most dramatic music.
The story is theatrical enough for Glyndebourne Opera to have transferred Saul from church and concert hall to the operatic stage.
Under the musical directorship of Simon Davies, the choir will be joined by a professional orchestra and soloists.
Saul is taken by baritone Peter Edge with tenor Jonathan Cooke as Jonathan. The other soloists are Harriet Goodwin, Caroline Taylor and Charlotte Richardson.
The professional soloists and orchestra are supported by grant from the Earl of Chester’s Fund, the Cheshire Charity.
Tickets are available from Malpas Pet Supplies or from choir members and for any enquiries call 07713 324227.
