IT WAS a week of all things Hollywood for our Whitchurch dance star on Strictly Come Dancing.

Celebrity dancer AJ Pritchard and his dance partner Saffron Barker took the bull by the horns on the Strictly dancefloor, performing a pasodoble for movies week.

Donned in all black, AJ, and Saffron – dressed up as Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games – kept serious faces as they paso’d around the dancefloor to Tears for Fears - Everybody wants to rule the World, sung by the Strictly Come Dancing Band.

And the fast-paced Spanish dance got them their best score to date and a standing ovation from the audience.

"I can see you channelling that fierce female character," said presenter Tess Daly after they had finished the dance.

Bruno Tonioli was also impressed with the duo's fighting spirit and commended them for getting into character, giving them a seven out of 10 for their efforts.

"May the odds be ever in your favour," said Bruno.

"I could see your fighting spirit. The battle of survival like in the movie."

Judges Craig Revel-Horwood and Motsi Mabuse were both complimentary of the couple – each scoring them a seven.

Craig, praising the dancers for being 'strong and focused' and Motsi, saying: "You gave 110 per cent. You are strong. You have power."

Shirley Ballas followed suit and rewarded the couple with a seven for their dance, making it a total of 28 – seven points higher than last week's cha-cha-cha, and putting them sixth out of the 14 couples.

"What a performance," presenter Claudia Winkleman said.

"You had tango first week, a pasodoble this week.

"It's quite exhausting being this serious right?"

And the Whitchurch dancer praised his 19-year-old partner Saffron after she had received a few comments from the judges regarding her posture and balance during the week-three dance.

"It's improving every week [Saffron's balance] and it's gradually getting better so that's all we can ask for," said AJ.
