THERE was plenty of opportunity to enjoy a brew and eat cake on Sunday as Wem Cricket Club hosted a Macmillan coffee morning.

The morning, organised by Sue Parker and Sharon Bailey, along with friends and family, packed out the club house, with everyone taken advantage of the baked good on offer.

For the organisers hosting an event in aid of Macmillan is especially poignant, with both Sue and Sharon's families being effected by the disease.

"It's the fourth year we've hosted the event and it's done really well." said Sue.

"Sharon's brother recently died and my father had cancer related illnesses. It's something that always ties people together.

"We've had a good response though. We've gone around the houses with leaflets and poster telling people about the event.

"And a lot of the club's members have got involved. The women's team have brought along a load of cakes they've baked."
