A CHURCH in Whitchurch has been doing their bit to raise awareness of climate change.

St John's methodist church, in St John's Street, held their annual coffee morning and harvest festival on Saturday, October 5, but also linked up with other events in the town.

With the Blackberry Fair promoting the climate change emergency this year, St John's served as an art gallery for the fair and featured art from the community highlighting the theme.

Steward at the church Peter Shingler said he was happy to welcome new things to the church and was glad to bring awareness of climate change.

"Every year we hold a coffee morning to raise funds for the church and this year we have the harvest theme," said Peter.

"For the first time we've combined with the Blackberry Fair, with their theme of climate change.

"Various different groups have created art pieces, including several local schools and artist Bob Charlesworth.

"It's always nice to welcome new people to the church especially that this is our first harvest event since opening the new disabled access."
