A FAMILIAR face will be returning to Whitchurch Cricket Club next season.

Maisam Hasnain, known to his friends as Maz, will be returning home to the Club for the 2020 season.

Club chairman Iain Marsh expressed how delighted he was to see Maz return home to the club after three years away playing at Newport.

Marsh said Maz – who has over 15,000 runs for Whitchurch – is still be best player in the league and this was proved by him scoring 980 runs.

"Maz always wanted to return even with us playing in the same league and he proved that by having several meetings with us over the last few weeks," said Iain.

"We hope Maz’s runs will push us on next season, and help us push for a much higher league position.

"The support from the Club and its players, supporters shows how everyone wanted Maz back."

Maz said he was excited to meet up and be involved again with the set up he grew up with as a player and person.

"I'm delighted to come back," said Maz.

"I always wanted to play for the club again where it all stated as a 19 year old."

Meanwhile Whitchurch Cricket Club will soon be sponsored by a Whitchurch based estate agent.
