A WEM-based festival has raised a massive sum of money following the event in the summer.

Charmina Festival – which this year supported the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, Severn Hospice and Cancer Research UK – was started by Harry Reece after his mum Joy was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2017.

This year's festival was the second running of the event, which was originally stared by Harry to get everybody together to have fun while raising money for local cancer charities.

The first event two years ago raised more than £14,000 for charity and this year has gone one further, raising more than £17,000.

Announcing the success online, a spokesman for the event said: "The donations continued to come in even after you guys partied hard all in the name of telling cancer to do one.

"We've been blown away by peoples generosity and kindness and with that, it's taken some time but we finally have the amount raised – £17,489.43.

"You are all absolutely amazing and you should be so proud. Thank you for making it another epic day and night."
