OSWESTRY-born writer, Jesse Armstrong, was recognised for his work with a prestigious Emmy Award at the weekend.
The Oswestry-born screenwriter was presented with the Best Writing for a Drama Series for his work in the HBO show Succession, at the awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Jesse has worked on a number of critically acclaimed shows including Black Mirror, Fresh Meat, The Thick of It and Peep Show.
He is also known for writing films including Four Lions, and In the Loop, for which he was nominated for an Oscar.
The former Marches School pupil was given the award in a category of popular TV shows including Killing Eve, Game of Thrones, Bodyguard and Better Call Saul.
Jesse took time to thank his colleagues during his acceptance speech.
He said: “[The success is also] due to the work of my friend and collaborator, the man who directed it, Mark Mylod. It’s the writers I worked with in the writers’ room who I’m very very fond of.
“Thanks to the cast who are extraordinary and who could turn base metal into gold – they make it a pleasure to go to work every day.
“I’m just sorry I’m away from home so much so I send my love to my family who I miss when I’m away.
“And I give my final thank you to HBO.”
