AN OSWESTRY teenager will workout for 24 hours to raise money for childhood cancer charities.

Abbie Dean, 15, will take part in a 24-hour Wodathon with just short breaks in between, to fundraise for The Isabelle Lottie Foundation and Aiden's Funds after losing six people close to her to cancer.

After completing a similar challenge for charity last year, Abbie has decided to make this year's fundraiser – which she is completing as part of the nationwide crossfit competition, Battle Cancer – even harder.

"I've lost six people to cancer – my nanna, nanny, two aunties, my dad's best friend Tony and my mum's cousins little boy, Aiden who was just nine," Abbie said.

"Last year I did a 12-hour Wodathon and with help raised more than £3,500 to share between Breast Cancer Care and the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund.

"This year I wanted to do something harder so I doubled the time.

"I want to raise awareness of cancer and as much money as possible for my chosen charities.

"If people want to help, they can come down on the day and book in to workout with me through the 24 hours and we’re asking for donations on the day to do this.

"Thanks to my coach Rob Walker from CrossFit Oswestry and others who are helping me organise it all."

Abbie's efforts will take place at CrossFit Oswestry, in Maesbury Road from October 12-13.
