JUNIOR cricketers in Whitchurch have hit the opposition for six this summer with three teams ending the season as league winners.

Whitchurch Cricket Club's U15 team walked away as league winners and regional champions, along with the U13 who were also league winners as well as regional runners up.

Meanwhile the U11 side did the double, winning the Shropshire League and the Cheshire League.

Head of junior cricket, James Wojda, said he is delighted with the success, but also that it shows the ladder from U8 to the senior side is climbable.

"I am very proud of our success this season which shows within the results from all the teams.

"For me winning is short term and my goals still remain the same to create a pathway from U8 all the way to senior cricket and so far we are achieving our goals at Whitchurch cricket club.

"The natural talent we have is unbelievable and the standard of my coaching team is next to none, I'd just like to thank coaches, managers, administrators and parents for all their hard work this summer.

"Without them none of this would have been possible.

"We look to continue our success next year but in the meantime Whitchurch cricket club will be running a winter programme with dates coming out very soon."
