A VENTURE aimed at boosting business in Whitchurch is set to be explained at a meeting this week.

The Whitchurch Chamber of Trade and Commerce will meet at Hill Valley Golf Course on Wednesday with around 30 stalls set to appear.

The event will also serve as an opportunity to explain the upcoming BID application and what it might mean for businesses in the town.

The meeting has been organised by Hilary Seward, chairman of the Chamber of Trade and Commerce, and she says it is a great opportunity to meet fellow business owners and influence the direction of the town.

"This event has two main aims, firstly it is to inform local businesses that there is a up and coming Chamber of Trade.

"There will be an opportunity to network, meet other businesses in and around town large and small to help businesses thrive and influence the direction of the town and help Whitchurch survive the challenges of business in 2019 and onwards.

"Secondly, to explain what a BID Business Trading District application could mean to local business.

"Business rates could go up, but that extra levy would be ringfenced specifically for Whitchurch projects.

"The importance that businesses get involved with this process at the very beginning to identify projects and form a group to manage the project.

"We need as many people at Hill Valley as possible."

The meeting will be held at Hill Valley Gold Course on Wednesday, September 18 from 4pm until 7pm.

The Whitchurch Chamber of Commerce will also be holding their monthly meetings at Hill Valley on the last Wednesday of every month with breakfast meetings arranged on specific dates in between.
