There was a hive of activity at Chirk Methodist Church on Saturday morning as it hosted its latest fundraiser.

The Fete in the Fall gathering saw a selection of cakes, refreshments, bric-a-brac, a tombola and much more, on offer with funds going to the church.

It is the latest in a series of fundraisers taking place this year.

Brenda Wilford, treasurer, said: "It's a fundraiser putting the talents of the people of the church on sale.

"But it is also about the friendship; bringing people together while raising funds for the church itself."

Brenda explained that over the last five or six years refurbishments have taken place including a new roof, updates to the electric and the alarm system.

Most of this was funded through fundraising and donations, but some came out of the church reserves which they are now looking to replenish.

So far £1,700 has been raised, but it is hoped that will rise to £2,000 by the end of the year with two more events to go.

The final two events will be a bacon butties coffee morning on Saturday, October 26 between 10am and 12noon, followed by a music night at Chirk AAA on Friday, November 8.

Brenda added: "The events have been great to bring everyone together but also to make people aware that the church is here."
