WEM are still leading the Shropshire Cricket league Premier Division despite suffering a surprise home defeat to Quatt on Saturday.

Sam Peate’s men, who pipped Quatt to the title in 2018, were unable to chase down a target of 100-plus and at one point were reduced to 18-6 before they were defeated.

However, their nearest rivals Worfield were also surprisingly beaten, losing heavily at Sentinel.

Meanwhile, Whitchurch picked up a solid win in a low-scoring victory over St Georges at Heath Road with Daniel and Elliott Bowen leading the way with the ball. They were worried when they lost wickets but eventually got over the line.

Meanwhile, Coton Hall’s title bid is starting to lose momentum as they lost again, dropping to fourth in Division Seven of the Shropshire Cricket League when they lost to Quayside.

Calverhall picked up a solid win at home to Bishop’s Castle with Oliver Griffiths proving to be the star man for the hosts, both with the ball and seeing them over the line for the win.

Iscoyd & Fenns Bank were beaten on the road while Ellesmere are starting to pick up points with an unlikely survival bid now starting to build momentum. Malpas picked up a draw.
