Shropshire Cricket League Division Four

Iscoyd & Fenns Bank remain in fifth place in the Shropshire Cricket League Division Four after they were given a walkover in their north Shropshire clash with Prees.

The Rec Men, who have struggled for players and form all summer, conceded their clash at the John Faulkner Ground, meaning they remain rock bottom and Iscoyd picked up 20 points without a ball being bowled.

Meanwhile, the second XI lost to fellow North Wales side Chirk second XI in the Shropshire County Cricket League Division Eight in what was a tight clash.

Batting first, Iscoyd set a solid target of 158 to win after they finished 157-9 from their 40 overs.

Skipper and opener James Nicholson scored a 43 to set a good platform for Iscoyd but he was eventually bowled by Jonathan Gough after Paul Gresty was run out for 10 by Liam Walker.

Tom Wynne also chipped in with a fine 34 before he was also bowled, with Andrew Edwards the bowler this time.

However, Iscoyd’s momentum was stopped when John Lloyd and James Gresty were both dismissed for ducks by Gough.

Jamie Dowley also gave Iscoyd hope with a fine 17 not out at the end of the innings with Gough’s 4-20 from eight overs the pick of the Chirk bowling.

In reply, a superb 69 not out from Connor Bailey was the stand-out showing as Chirk reached their target with five wickets left.

James Gresty and Paul Gresty made early breakthroughs as Ian Skinner was trapped lbw by James for seven, while Dale Randall and Gary bailey were both out for ducks.

But opener Liam Walker gave support with a fine 44 as Chirk took the win.

On Saturday, the first XI travel to Chelmarsh and the second XI host Lilleshall.
