A NEW group dedicated to tackling unnecessary plastic usage in Whitchurch has been formed.

The 'No To Pointless Plastic' group, formed by Whitchurch resident Steve Chapman, have begun meeting at the Wheatsheaf in Green End to discuss what can done, but are still on the hunt for new members.

Two meetings have already taken place and the group look to start their campaign proper in the coming months.

"Massive as the challenge may seem, people from all walks of life are now coming together to clean up their acts," said Steve. "Shropshire’s market towns being no exception."

"From Bridgnorth to Newport, Nantwich and now Whitchurch, folk are all shouting enough is enough.

"Two recent public gatherings at the Wheatsheaf Pub in Green End have shown folk are eager to address this issue blighting the planet and with help from Sustainable Newport and others, a hotly anticipated campaign will kick in over the next few months.

"You don’t have to come from Whitchurch to join the throng, just be passionate that you want your voice heard and between us all we can show there’s strength by coming together as a community.

"From Malpas to Whitchurch and beyond this is a universal challenge.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, July 23 at 7.30pm in The Wheatsheaf Hotel in Green End.
