A TEAM of friends and family from Whitchurch have helped raise a large sum of money by taking part in the national Longest Day Challenge.

The challenge saw four golfers take to the course at Hawkstone Park, in an attempt to play four rounds of golf in one day.

Sharon Jones was completing the challenge for Bloodwise, after being diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer.

She was joined by husband Rowland Jones and their two good friends Ashley Burdock and Keith salt in playing the four rounds, beginning at 5am on June 22.

"I felt the need to do this challenge to raise money for Bloodwise; as I was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer in 2018 after a short illness," said Sharon. "This challenge was gruelling both mentally and physically with myself having the illness.

"My husband Rowland Jones and two friends, Ashley Burdock and Keith Salt, accompanied me and made the challenge less painful.

"Up to date, I have raised £2,000 and would like to say a big thank you to everyone that has sponsored and supported me.

"The money raised will make a huge difference with people that are awaiting diagnosis and funding research."
