THE North Shropshire Wheelers were out last week, taking part in the tricky Battlefield 25.

The 25 mile event saw numerous riders travel from the Prees bypass, along the A49 to Battlefield roundabout near Shrewsbury, before returning to Prees.

Altogether 18 riders took part in the event, with nine Norths taking part.

Daniel Watts from the RAF Cycling Club was top of the charts, finishing with a time of 54 minutes and 33 seconds.

Richard Kay was the quickest of the Norths, finishing third with a time of 58:18.

Meanwhile fellow North Tim Rex finished seventh with a 1:01:48, followed by James Neale in eighth with a 1:02:16 and Gino Trasatti in ninth with a 1:02:59.

The tough competition from other cycling clubs meant Richard Cordova, Les Boughy, Steve Smout, Terry Price and Elaine Langley were all unlucky to finish outside the top ten.

The North Shropshire Wheelers will be back out this Wednesday, contending the 10 mile series.
