THE votes have been counted for the latest ‘Bags of Help’ competition run by Tesco in Ellesmere.

Every three months, three community projects or groups who have been put forward to win a cheque from Tesco can receive votes from shoppers at the store, who vote by placing a blue token into the box of the organisation they would like to win the money.

This year’s winners were the Veterans of the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital who came first, winning the top prize of £4,000, Shropshire Wildlife trust came second, winning £2,000 and in third was Ellesmere Rangers Football Club, who won £1,000.

Each of the winners were presented with their winner’s cheques at the store on Saturday by Sophie Penrose, Tesco’s community champion.

She said: “We are really proud we can help with funding local organisations.

“Bags of Help is a great way to get a huge boost for projects in the community.”
