HAWKSTONE Park Golf Club have held a charity day honouring their female players.

The club's lady captain, Francine Nutt, played host to 31 members and invited guests who participated in an 18 hole stableford competition for the annual Lady Captain’s Day event.

For the most significant day of her captaincy, Francine who lives in Fauls Green, also called on the support of her husband Terry and son Michael, together with Hawkstone Park’s captain, David Driver de Valle, who challenged golfers to beat their tee shots onto the iconic par three, 12th hole on the Hawkstone Course.

The challenge raised £190 for cancer charity Lingen Davies.

Refreshments of Pimms and home-made cakes were also served on the 12th tee.

Following the competition, a dinner was held at the Hawkstone Park hotel where an impressive array of prizes was presented by the Lady Captain.

Speaking about the event, Francine Nutt said: “I had such an enjoyable day and it was great to see so many members and friends competing here, and we mostly managed to dodge the summer showers.

“Golf is such a great sport for women to take up, at any age, and the recent changes to the handicap system means that newcomers to the game can really compete alongside better players.

"The game is great fun, promotes new friendships and it offers many health benefits. It’s also highly addictive!”
