WHITCHURCH Alport have unveiled a new chief scout to work within Luke Goddard’s management team.

Ian Parry joins the club with an expansive CV, including three years with Wrexham’s academy as head of recruitment and will continue to work alongside his current scouting role at Liverpool’s academy.

Ian will oversee opposition analysis and work closely with the management team to identify talented players, to fill specific roles that are required within the first team.

On joining the club Ian said: “The size and potential of Whitchurch Alport was a big draw for me.

“I have spoken to a number of people who all confirmed how ambitious the club was.

“The vision that Luke and Steve have for the club moving forward is very exciting and it’s the sort of thing you want to be a part of.

“The gaffer is keen for me to get to know the league, teams and players within it in as much detail as possible, which will only help everyone at the club move forward and build on all the excellent work going on behind the scenes.”

The backroom staff is not the only area which the club has been focusing on strengthening, as they continue trying to bolster their squad for the coming season.

The club has managed to re-sign a lot of the squad’s players from last season.

A new addition to the squad from Telford United is Jud Ellis who briefly featured for Alport back in the 2017/18 season.

Ellis has joined the squad full time following his season at the New Bucks Head.

The squad is coming together well as they recently confirmed last season’s top goalscorer Alex Hughes is returning for another season.

Aaron Johns has also committed himself to the club for a further season as he prepares for a third season with the Reds.

Shot-stopper Dave Parton has also signed for a second season after proving a fan favourite in his debut season, winning supporters’ player of the year.

Skipper Darren Campion has signed for the season, along with Joe Minshall, Dylan Bath, Dan Skelton, Ben Chilcott, Sean Griffiths, Lee Pickerill and Leon Ashman.

Alport were taking on Eccleshall at Yockings Park in their latest fixture last night.
