This Friday Whitchurch market will move to its new home, taking up residence in the Civic Centre's main hall.

The trader supported move was recently approved by Whitchurch Town Council and all of the regular traders are excited and looking forward to the move.

Dorothy Wright of Whitchurch Country Markets said traders have wanted to change locations for a while and the move has come at a good time.

The Town Council enlisted the help of Joe Harrison, chief executive of the National Market Traders Federation for guidance and ideas on how to reinvigorate the weekly market.

At an initial meeting last November, Joe said: “Whitchurch Friday market could have a better and brighter home, that would encourage new traders, support the development of existing stalls and encourage more new people to come to the market.”

Town Centre manager Zoe Dean said “We hope to continue offering our customers a friendly and well-stocked weekly market.

"The stalls at the front of the Civic Centre will remain in their usual places.”

The move will be trialled for six months, when it will be further reviewed by everyone involved.
