Four golfers from Hawkstone Park Golf Club have raised £1,500 for cancer charity Macmillan after completing 72 holes of golf in 14 hours.

Participating in the charity’s nationwide ‘Longest Day Golf Challenge’ which challenges golfers to take on four rounds in one day to raise funds were club members Josh Gresty, Tim Jones and brothers Callum and Tom Welch.

The golfers were inspired to participate in the challenge as Hawkstone Park’s President, Dale Benbow and Captain, David Driver de Valle are both cancer survivors.

“The four of us are thrilled and proud to have completed the challenge and to raise a substantial amount of money for Macmillan,” said Tim Jones.

“Even though we are all low handicappers used to playing golf, it was much harder than we all thought, but we kept each other going throughout the day.

“It was a great feeling to tee-off on the 72nd hole and we are very grateful to our friends who came along to support us.”

The golfers have set up a page for anyone wishing to make a donation longestdaygolf.macmillan.org.uk/Team/thebarts
